Hoxton Blog • Building Future Financial Leaders: Inside Hoxton Wealth’s DESS Student Day 2025
At Hoxton Wealth, we believe the future of financial planning depends on developing people – not just processes.
That’s why we invest heavily in nurturing the next generation of financial professionals through education, mentorship, and real-world exposure.
Last month, we hosted DESS (Dubai English Speaking Schools) Student Day 2025, an immersive learning experience designed to introduce students to the world of global wealth management.
Led by Hoxton’s leadership team, the event offered a unique inside look at the life of a financial adviser, the importance of disciplined planning, and the values that have shaped Hoxton Wealth into a global firm.
Global Director of Financial Planning Jacob Hall opened the day by sharing Hoxton’s mission: turning financial complexity into clarity.
Operating across 60+ countries, with 9,500+ clients and more than $3.5 billion in assets under management, Hoxton Wealth provides independent, cross-border financial advice built for internationally minded individuals and families.
From investment advisory and multi-jurisdictional tax planning to estate and legal protection, Hoxton combines personal service with cutting-edge technology – ensuring that every client benefits from advice as mobile and flexible as they are.
The day continued with an overview of the Trainee Wealth Manager Programme, presented by Matt Morgan, our Global Advice Manager.
This three-year development pathway exemplifies Hoxton’s commitment to growing talent from within.
As Morgan reminded attendees, “At Hoxton, we don’t just offer jobs – we offer careers built on growth, collaboration, and purpose.”
In a session led by Jacob Hall, students explored what makes the first client meeting the cornerstone of successful financial planning.
He explained how each stage of the client journey builds trust and momentum – from the initial rapport to fact-finding and setting up the next meeting.
Preparation, empathy, and structure, he noted, are what distinguish professional advisers from salespeople.
“Every great relationship starts with listening,” Hall said. “It’s not about you – it’s about understanding what matters most to the client.”
Derik Antony, Head of Investments, led an engaging workshop on the core principles of investing.
Topics ranged from risk versus return and diversification to the power of compounding – demonstrating how early, disciplined investing can transform long-term outcomes.
Participants also learned how Hoxton’s investment philosophy emphasises balance, transparency, and education. By helping clients understand markets and risk, advisers empower them to make informed decisions for life.
One of the most inspiring moments of the day came from Senior Adviser Ravi Gill, who shared his journey from university graduate to managing over £50 million in client assets.
Ravi spoke candidly about moving overseas at a young age, adapting to new cultures, and learning resilience in the face of challenge.
He credited mentorship, continuous learning, and a willingness to step outside his comfort zone as keys to his success.
“Growth happens when you step outside what feels safe,” Ravi reflected. “The best investment you’ll ever make is in yourself – your skills, your mindset, and your network.”
Hoxton’s emphasis on innovation was showcased through live demonstrations of the Hoxton Wealth App and its proprietary WealthFlow planning tool.
These technologies bring financial clarity directly to clients’ fingertips – allowing them to monitor portfolios in real time, run retirement projections, and collaborate securely with their advisers.
Together, they exemplify Hoxton’s mission to make global financial management smarter, simpler, and more transparent.
Our CEO and Founder Chris Ball closed the event with an inspiring message about leadership, ownership, and vision.
From humble beginnings in 2018 with just five people and $35 million in assets, Hoxton Wealth has grown into a global firm through hard work, innovation, and integrity.
Ball shared how his early career challenges – from sleeping on airbeds in Abu Dhabi to building a multinational business – shaped the company’s culture of accountability and grit.
“Success is never a straight road,” he said. “It’s about how you respond to setbacks and how much ownership you take of your journey.”
Looking ahead, Hoxton’s WealthTech 2027 Vision aims to reach £5 billion in assets under management, expand through acquisitions, and continue setting the benchmark for international financial advice.
DESS Student Day wasn’t just an event – it was a glimpse into a future where financial education and mentorship empower young professionals to build meaningful, global careers.
Hoxton Wealth remains dedicated to supporting ambitious individuals who share its values of growth, collaboration, and excellence.
As Ball summarised: “We’re not just managing money – we’re shaping lives, opportunities, and futures.”
